Michelle McKinney is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law. Less than
1% of the state’s lawyer’s hold this coveted certification which is a mark of excellence and exemplifies
the fact that Michelle has extensive experience handling complex family law issues.
Michelle was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2011. She received her Juris Doctorate from the
University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Arkansas. While at the U of A, she completed an
internship with the Federal Public Defender’s Office, and worked as a summer law clerk for the
Honorable Jorge Solis of the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas. Prior to attending
law school, Ms. McKinney received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 2008 from Rutgers University
in New Brunswick, New Jersey. At Rutgers, she founded a volunteer program for students interested in
Environmental Science and volunteered as a site coordinator for the VITA program, which is an IRS
sponsored program for low-income individuals and families. Michelle McKinney also earned Dean’s List Honors every semester and won several academic scholarships and awards throughout her undergraduate career.
Michelle now practices family law out of the Bailey & Galyen Carrollton Office.
