Firm Participates in Festivities to Honor Mexican Culture and Heritage
On Saturday, May 3, attorneys and staff from Bailey & Galyen joined revelers in downtown Mesquite for the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the storied victory over the French by General Ignacio Zaragoza at the Battle of Pueblo on May 5, 1862. On May 9, 1862, Mexican president Benito Juárez declared that the anniversary of the military conquest would become a national holiday. Though Cinco de Mayo has been celebrated in Mexico ever since, the holiday is much bigger in the United States.
The Mesquite Cinco de Mayo fiesta, hosted by the city of Mesquite in partnership with the Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, featured a wide range of activities, including:
- A Hispanic culture fashion show
- Live music from the Sabor Puro Band
- Authentic Mexican food and a wide range of Mexican goods and merchandise
- A jalapeño-eating contest
- A kids’ area with a piñata, chalk, bubbles, face painting, and arts and crafts
Attorneys and staff from Bailey & Galyen joined the festivities, with a booth where festival-goers could get more information on the types of services offered by Bailey & Galyen.
