Firm’s Lawyers Win $3,000,000 for Stabbing Victim
Bailey & Galyen attorneys Scott Robelen and Clint Lee have been honored by TopVerdict for obtaining the largest jury damage award in Texas in 2024 for a client injured in a railroad accident. Robelen and Lee won a $3 million verdict for John Farley, a conductor on the Trinity Railway Express. Farley was attacked and stabbed by a passenger onboard a train on June 18, 2021. A jury in Tarrant County found that Allied Universal Security Services, a company contracted to provide security at the railway station, was negligent for failing to reasonably provide security to the plaintiff.
According to documents filed with the court, the injured party (Farley) was preparing to embark on the train’s final departure of the day when an assailant entered the train and attacked him with a knife. At the trial, which lasted a week, the jury rejected defense counsel’s efforts to assign responsibility to the plaintiff and the railroad company, finding instead that Allied had failed to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of employees and passengers on the train.
