Earlier today, a woman came in with a three-month-old baby. She wanted to establish custody, visitation, and child support. She had the option to pay me several thousand dollars to handle these matters or to go to the attorney general’s office and receive the services for free. In my opinion, in cases like this, it is often best for the client to go to the attorney general’s office, as the money saved can be used for the benefit of the baby, rather than for paying for services that can be obtained for free.
